Ribeye steak in Cascais, cooked over charcoal
Craving a proper ribeye while you are in Cascais? Latina Grill has six different rib eyes on the menu, from 250 g to 500 g, all cooked over a charcoal grill in full view of the dining room.
The ribeye is cut from the rib section and is loved for its marbling: the fat melts on the grill and keeps the steak juicy and full of flavour. In Portugal you may also see it called «entrecôte».
The rib eyes on our menu
The same cut appears in several sections of the menu, so you can compare origins and sizes:
- Premium Selection: Rubia Gallega Rib Eye, 250 g.
- Aged Meats: Rib Eye USA, 250 g.
- Wagyu: Japan Wagyu Rib Eye, 250 g.
- Golden Selection: Golden Rib Eye 500 g and Golden Rib Eye USA 500 g.
- Golden Selection: Golden Japanese Wagyu Rib Eye, 300 g.
Which one to order
On a first visit, a 250 g rib eye is a comfortable single portion and leaves room for a starter and dessert. The 500 g Golden Selection steaks are for a big appetite, or to share between two with a few sides.
Wagyu is far more marbled than a regular rib eye: richer, and usually eaten in smaller portions. If you have never tried it, order one to share and compare it with a classic rib eye at the same table. Our staff are happy to explain the differences.
Rib eye is at its best medium rare to medium, because the fat needs some heat to render. Our steak doneness guide explains each level.
Sides and wine
Popular sides include golden potatoes with a slow-cooked egg, Azores cheese and truffle, sweet potato fries with garlic, oregano and truffle aioli, truffled mashed potato and charcoal-grilled vegetables. For a table that wants to try several cuts, the Aged Meats Board and the Latina Premium Board are made for sharing.
The wine list has reds from Portugal, France, Italy, Spain and the USA — a good match for a cut as rich as the rib eye.
